Mail from the linux server is aliased and redirected to my Outlook account on the Exchange server.
Problem is that some of the lines get wrapped in the email. I've examined the log file with a hex editor and found that the x'0D' terminators are all exactly where they should be, but some lines are still wrapped in the body of the email. And it's not consistent. For example, if the log file has this:

The email may show

Or it may show

ghi jkl mno

I have also observed the same behavior when my servers were running HP-UX. But I've not had much like from that side so thought I'd see if there were any insights from this side of the house.
Of course, our in-house Exchange guys insist it must be a *nix issue. Riigght.
ok, does anyone know how i can strip out fields i dont want from a mail spool file (eg: /var/mail/usermailbox) and dump to standard output (or file with > filename) ?? i tried using a bunch of grep -v 's but i realized that has two main problems, first of all, if anyone types the text im grepping... I realized now that the root email is integrated with exchange. All the email of root is now being sent also to the aliases of aixadmin or to my email.

When i use the single quotes around the variables i am getting each line in the array as seperate in the email as shown in code2 & output2. But i don't want those single quotes to be printed but each array element should be printed as seperate line as when i remove those single quotes... (1 Reply)

SYNOPSIS
irsend [options] DIRECTIVE REMOTE CODE [CODE...]
DESCRIPTION
Asks the lircd daemon to send one or more CIR (Consumer Infra-Red) commands. This is intended for remote control of electronic devices such
as TV boxes, HiFi sets, etc.
DIRECTIVE can be:
SEND_ONCE - send CODE [CODE ...] once
SEND_START - start repeating CODE
SEND_STOP - stop repeating CODE
LIST - list configured remote items
SET_TRANSMITTERS - set transmitters NUM [NUM ...]
SIMULATE - simulate IR event
REMOTE is the name of a remote, as described in the lircd configuration file.
CODE is the name of a remote control key of REMOTE, as it appears in the lircd configuration file.
NUM is the transmitter number of the hardware device.
For the LIST DIRECTIVE, REMOTE and/or CODE can be empty:
LIST "" "" - list all configured remote names
LIST REMOTE "" - list all codes of REMOTE
LIST REMOTE CODE - list only CODE of REMOTE
The SIMULATE command only works if it has been explicitly enabled in lircd.

DIAGNOSTICS
If lircd is not running (or /var/run/lirc/lircd lacks write permissions) irsend aborts with the following diagnostics:
"irsend: could not connect to socket"
"irsend: Connection refused" (or "Permission denied").
