Yahoo Interview unanswered questions
Hi guys,
please help me get the answers of these questions which I faced in an interview @ Yahoo
1. I want to " ls " few million files, certainly I cannot do so because ls has some restriction in KBs, how can I do it alternatively.
2. Change the system in such a way that while booting up, Linux shows the message such as starting the httpd etc.. , but in actual it is shutting down the daemon or anything else.
3. when I am entering username and password at login promt, the same screen is getting returned without any error, what could be the issue ?
wanted to post more questions, but it is enuf for this thread.

Hey,
My company is looking to bring on a Sr. UNIX Admin with Solaris 10 experience.
What are some solid interview questions I could ask about UNIX and Solaris 10 that would weed a good guy out from a bad?
Questions that don't involve long command lines would be the best.

lpasswd - Change group or user password SYNOPSIS
lpasswd [OPTION]... [name] DESCRIPTION
Changes password of user or group name. If the name argument is not provided, username of the invoking user is used; the name argument is ignored if lpasswd is run set-uid to a different user. Entering an empty password (by pressing Enter) aborts the password setting operation. OPTIONS
-F, --plainpassword-fd=fd Read password from file descriptor fd, terminated by end of file, ' ' or ' '. -f, --password-fd=fd Read password hash from file descriptor fd, terminated by end of file, ' ' or ' '. -g, --group Change password of group name. By default the password of user name is changed. -i, --interactive Ask all questions when connecting to the user database, even if default answers are set up in libuser configuration. -P, --plainpassword=password Set the password to password. Note that the password can be viewed while running lpasswd using tools such as ps(1). -p, --password=encrypted Set the password to the password represented by the hash encrypted.
