Well, I hope someone else knows more. Can't find anything useful. Although vi -t is not so horrible a burden to get what you need.

I have files such as

I am wondering if it is possible to define two field separators "-" and "."
for these strings so that $7 is run1. (5 Replies)

I have a file that has the words I want to find in other files (but lets say I just want to find my words in a single file). Those words are IDs, so if my word is ZZZ4, outputs like aaZZZ4, ZZZ4bb, aaZZZ4bb, ZZ4, ZZZ, ZyZ4, ZZZ4.8 (or anything like that) WON'T BE USEFUL.
I need the whole word... (6 Replies)

Hi,
I'm trying to parse a text file which uses commas as field separators. Fields are double quoted, and may themselves contain commas, like this:
"1","John Smith","London","123"
"2","Mary Robertson","Horsham, Sussex","456"
This causes problems for the following command
cut -d","... (7 Replies)

I am trying to count the occurrences of ALL words in a file. However, I want to exclude certain words: short words (i.e. <3 chars), and words contained in an blacklist file. Well, guys I saw a question about GOTO for Python.
So this gave me the inspiration to attempt a GOTO function for 'dash', (bash and ksh too).

This is purely a fun project to see if it is possible in PURE... (3 Replies)

NORMPAT(1) General Commands Manual NORMPAT(1)
NAME
normpat - normalize RADIANCE pictures for use as patterns.
SYNOPSIS
normpat [ -v ][ -b ][ -f ][ -r maxres ] picture ..
DESCRIPTION
Normpat normalizes one or more RADIANCE pictures to an average brightness of 1.0 and optionally removes fundamental frequencies and blends
the edges of the image. The original images are overwritten during this process, and it is recommended that the program work on copies of
the pictures for this reason.
The -r option can be used to set the maximum horizontal or vertical resolution of the final result, which should not be greater than 256
for most patterns (due to the associated memory burden during rendering). The -f option uses a Fourier transform to remove the lowest fre-
quencies from the image, reducing the noticeability of pattern repitition. The -b option can be used to blend the edges of the image so
that when it is tiled, the seams are less apparent. The -v option turns on the verbose flag, which prints on the standard output progress
messages as the script runs.
Normpat is a shell script that makes calls to other RADIANCE programs that do the actual work.
