reorgvg in AIX
Hello,
I'm trying to understand what is the practical usage of this command. In IBM website I've found that:
Reorganizes the physical partition allocation for a volume group.
In which situation should I use it? Could you give me some example.

Before the reorgvg, I had:

I have defined the lv with "maximum" disk, and launch the reorgvg

Hi,
redbook documentation is telling that IY17981 fix is required for aix 4.3.3 to aix 5L migration. But there is no mention about that fix in any ML installation packages.
- My system is ML11 :
oslevel –r
4330-11
- But xlC.rte is on wrong version :
lslpp -L xlC.rte

Quick and simple question...
Can a reorgvg (aix 5.3) be canceled and what are them impacts if any? I would guess it can be canceled and once restarted, starts back where it left off?
Can't find the info in the man pages or google...

Hello,
I've set up email alerts on AIX Servers. so that i can get email notifications (via mail relay server) when ever there is abnormal behavior.
for example
1) my script monitors CPU/disk/memory etc... when it reaches high water ark, it will send an email alert.
2) disk usage alerts

I am running AIX 7.1 and currently we have samba 3.6.25 installed on the server. As it stands some AIX folders are shared that can be accessed by certain Windows users.

pvchange - change attributes of a physical volume
SYNOPSIS
pvchange [--addtag Tag] [-A|--autobackup y|n] [-d|--debug] [-f|--force] [--deltag Tag] [--metadataignore y|n] [-h|-?|--help] [-t|--test]
[-v|--verbose] [-a|--all] [-x|--allocatable y|n] [-u|--uuid] [PhysicalVolumePath...]
DESCRIPTION
pvchange allows you to change the allocation permissions of one or more physical volumes.
OPTIONS
See lvm for common options.
-a, --all
If PhysicalVolumePath is not specified on the command line all physical volumes are searched for and used.
--metadataignore y|n
Ignore or un-ignore metadata areas on this physical volume. If metadata areas on a physical volume are ignored, LVM will not not
store metadata in the metadata areas present on this Physical Volume.
-u, --uuid
Generate new random UUID for specified physical volumes.
-x, --allocatable y|n
Enable or disable allocation of physical extents on this physical volume.
Example
"pvchange -x n /dev/sdk1" disallows the allocation of physical extents on this physical volume (possibly because of disk errors, or because
it will be removed after freeing it.
