On your system I presume the kernel parameter swapmem_on is set to 1 (default value for 11.31) this means that the system can (and will ...) use up to 70% of your physical memory "AS" swap... after using all the physical memory as swap it will continue on de swap device...
In your case I find it frightening to see 19% of this time true swap used (meaning 12 GB contiguous disk space accessed...) has your system not slowed down?
compare to theses figures:
Disk access / used = 0!
Noticed how I "balanced the load if ever it has to use the swap? ( It will write to the three in parallel multiplying the throughput...)
When i re-updated my system i set my swap at 500 MB. I have 256 in ram and have never even gone into the 250 mb of swap that i had originally configured. How do I reduce the swap? (3 Replies)

Hello and thanks in advance.
I have a Sun box with raid 1 on the O/S disks using solaris svm.
I want to unmirror my swap partition, and add the slice on the second disk as an additional swap device. This would give me twice as much swap space.
I have been warned not to do this by some... (3 Replies)
I am running HPUX and using WLM (workload manager). I want to write a script to fork CPUs to basically take CPUs from other servers to show that the communication is working and CPU licensing is working. Basically, I want to build a script that will use up CPU on a server. Any ideas? (2 Replies)

created default partition /dev/sdb1 50M using fdisk. i did write the changes.
#mkswap /dev/sdb1

this shows that the swap is on

Hi
I have an integrity machine rx7620 and rx8640 running hp-ux 11.31. I'm planning to fine tune the system:
- I would like to know when does the memory swap space spill over to the device swap space?
- And how much % of memory swap utilization should be specified (swap space device... (6 Replies)
I'm sharing this in case anybody needs it. Modified from the original solaris pwage script. This modified hpux script will check /etc/password file on hpux trusted systems search /tcb and grep the required u_succhg field. Calculate days to expiry and notify users via email.

Hi Solaris Folks :),
I need to calculate the swap usage on solaris server, please let me understand the output of below swap -s and swap -l commands.

cpufreq-set - A small tool which allows to modify cpufreq settings.
SYNTAX
cpufreq-set [options]
DESCRIPTION
cpufreq-set allows you to modify cpufreq settings without having to type e.g. "/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_set_speed" all
the time.
OPTIONS -c --cpu <CPU>
number of CPU where cpufreq settings shall be modified.
-d --min <FREQ>
new minimum CPU frequency the governor may select.
-u --max <FREQ>
new maximum CPU frequency the governor may select.
-g --governor <GOV>
new cpufreq governor.
-f --freq <FREQ>
specific frequency to be set. Requires userspace governor to be available and loaded.
-r --related
modify all hardware-related CPUs at the same time
-h --help
Prints out the help screen.
REMARKS
Omitting the -c or --cpu argument is equivalent to setting it to zero.
The -f FREQ, --freq FREQ parameter cannot be combined with any other parameter except the -c CPU, --cpu CPU parameter.
FREQuencies can be passed in Hz, kHz (default), MHz, GHz, or THz by postfixing the value with the wanted unit name, without any space (fre-
quency in kHz =^ Hz * 0.001 =^ MHz * 1000 =^ GHz * 1000000).
On Linux kernels up to 2.6.29, the -r or --related parameter is ignored.
