I feel stupid -- I had set all of the tmp files to a different directory which was failing and my test never got to the more. Grrrrrr. Fixed my bug and problem reproduced, changed more to
and no problem.
@Chubler_XL -- thanks for making me look harder at this. Hope OP sees it now.
Sorry for such a dreadful title, but I'm not sure how to be more descriptive. I'm hoping some of the more gurutastic out there can take a look at a solution I came up with to a problem, and advice if there are better ways to have gone about it.

I'm trying to understand if it's possible to create a set of variables that are numbered based on another variable (using eval) in a loop, and then call on it before the loop ends.

Hi Im running this script, which is supposed to find the max value build some tables and then stop running once all the tables are built. Thing is , it keeps assigning a null value to $h and then $g is null so it keep building tables i.e. testupdateNUL. How can I stop this? Here is what I have:

Hi all
Sorry for the basic question, but i am writing a shell script to get around a slightly flaky binary that ships with one of our servers. This particular utility randomly generates the correct information and could work first time or may work on the 12th or 100th attempt etc !.... (4 Replies)
Hi,
hope I am posting in the right section.
My problem is that I have 2 or more arguments passed and I want to check if the arguments passed exists or not.
The first argument should not exist and the remaining others should exist.
example:

Hi, I was debating if I should put this in the dummies or scripts section, I apologize in advance if I chose poorly.
Fairly new to Unix and BASH scripting but I thought I made it fairly well given my limited understanding. However, the output indicates that it's looping and I'm ending up with a... (5 Replies)

dh_movefiles
DH_MOVEFILES(1) Debhelper DH_MOVEFILES(1)NAME
dh_movefiles - move files out of debian/tmp into subpackages
SYNOPSIS
dh_movefiles [debhelperoptions] [--sourcedir=dir] [-Xitem] [file...]
DESCRIPTION
dh_movefiles is a debhelper program that is responsible for moving files out of debian/tmp or some other directory and into other package
build directories. This may be useful if your package has a Makefile that installs everything into debian/tmp, and you need to break that
up into subpackages.
Note: dh_install is a much better program, and you are recommended to use it instead of dh_movefiles.
FILES
debian/package.files
Lists the files to be moved into a package, separated by whitespace. The filenames listed should be relative to debian/tmp/. You can
also list directory names, and the whole directory will be moved.
OPTIONS --sourcedir=dir
Instead of moving files out of debian/tmp (the default), this option makes it move files out of some other directory. Since the entire
contents of the sourcedir is moved, specifying something like --sourcedir=/ is very unsafe, so to prevent mistakes, the sourcedir must
be a relative filename; it cannot begin with a `/'.
-Xitem, --exclude=item
Exclude files that contain item anywhere in their filename from being installed.
file ...
Lists files to move. The filenames listed should be relative to debian/tmp/. You can also list directory names, and the whole directory
will be moved. It is an error to list files here unless you use -p, -i, or -a to tell dh_movefiles which subpackage to put them in.
NOTES
Note that files are always moved out of debian/tmp by default (even if you have instructed debhelper to use a compatibility level higher
than one, which does not otherwise use debian/tmp for anything at all). The idea behind this is that the package that is being built can be
told to install into debian/tmp, and then files can be moved by dh_movefiles from that directory. Any files or directories that remain are
ignored, and get deleted by dh_clean later.
