FFMPEG install on 10.4.11, errors compiling and also using port
i've got an older white macbook running 10.4.11. about 5 years old i think.
trying to install ffmpeg in 2 different ways. having errors on both.
first tried this one: ffmpeg installation on Mac OSX
and i got this error when i got down to "make" on the ffmpeg itself
Code:
make(350) malloc: *** vm_allocate(size=4272988160) failed (error code=3)
make(350) malloc: *** error: can't allocate region
make(350) malloc: *** set a breakpoint in szone_error to debug
make: *** virtual memory exhausted. Stop.
rebooted and tried it fresh. same result.
then i tried to install using mac ports
which installed and built a whole bunch of dependencies and then failed on the ffmpeg build.
Code:
---> Building ffmpeg
Error: Target org.macports.build returned: shell command failed (see log for details)
Log for ffmpeg is at: /opt/local/var/macports/logs/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_tarballs_ports_multimedia_ffmpeg/ffmpeg/main.log
Error: Status 1 encountered during processing.
