hi,
i wat to get the output of a grep command in a file. but when i am trying out the same grep command in the unix prompt its working fine.. i am getting the output properly.. but when i am writing the same command inside my shell script , its just creating a new output file with no contents... I tried tee but it writes to STDOUT , which I do not want.

Is there a utility built into Solaris that will allow me to see console messages from a tty?
I've done a search and see that this is possible through software like ILOM, but I'm looking for a method to do this with built in utilities.

I'd like to redirect the STDOUT output from my script to a file and simultaneously display it at a console.
I've tried this command:
myscript.sh | tail -f
However, it doesn't end after the script finishes running
I've also tried this:
myscript.sh | tee ~/results.txt

tee(1) User Commands tee(1) NAME
tee - replicate the standard output SYNOPSIS
tee [-ai] [file...] DESCRIPTION
The tee utility will copy standard input to standard output, making a copy in zero or more files. tee will not buffer its output. The options determine if the specified files are overwritten or appended to. OPTIONS
The following options are supported. -a Appends the output to the files rather than overwriting them. -i Ignores interrupts. OPERANDS
The following operands are supported: file A path name of an output file. Processing of at least 13 file operands will be supported. USAGE
See largefile(5) for the description of the behavior of tee when encountering files greater than or equal to 2 Gbyte ( 2**31 bytes). ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES
See environ(5) for descriptions of the following environment variables that affect the execution of tee: LANG, LC_ALL, LC_CTYPE, LC_MES- SAGES, and NLSPATH. EXIT STATUS
