Problem with command line parameters

hi,
This is actually realted to a Abinitio command in a unix script. my code is
Code:

#!/bin/ksh

GRAPH_NAME=$1
shift

air sandbox run $GRAPH_NAME $* > file.lst 2>&1
if [[ $? -eq 0 ]]; then echo "Pass"
fi

when i run this script with this command "script.ksh graph_name parameters"

the script runs fine but an empty file with name "parameters" is created.

i changed the code to
Code:
#!/bin/ksh

air sandbox run $* > file.lst 2>&1
if [[ $? -eq 0 ]]; then echo "Pass"
fi

the graph fails with the below error
"script.ksh[3]: graph_name: cannot create"

but if use read statements to get the input from users and then run the graph it works fine. i can't understand what am i doing wrong.

FYI: air sandbox run is an Abinitio command to run a abinitio graph from unix server.
