This is an e-mail to me from a company that supports an inventory program on our unix box:
Your resolv.conf seems to be working perfectly. Remember, it is used not
just for mail, but any IP address lookup. It currently says
Check local (this machine), then use this nameserver (ip.address).
The fact that I can get emails, plus the fact that you can ping external
sites *by name*, like
Yahoo! Ireland, means that resolv.conf is properly
configured.
