What does \042 & \047 mean when used in awk body

What does \042 & \047 mean when used in awk body
Hi,
I have seen in several posts in this forum use these 2 features with awk.
For e.g. replacing the FS space with FS " in a file below command is used.
awk '{print $3 "\042" $4}' test
I searched everywhere but no success. I am still a novice in unix scripting ,so please be gentle

Been racking my brain on this for the last couple of days and what has been most frustrating is that this is the last piece I need to complete a project.

Hi Guru's.
I am trying to use to check if $5 is greater than 80 & if not 100, then to print $0 :
awk '{ if ($5>80) && if ($5 != 100) print $0}
But getting error:
>bdf1|sed 's/%//g'|awk '{ if ($5>80) && if ($5 != 100) print $0}'
syntax error The source line is 1.

Igawk is a simple shell script that adds the ability to have ``include files'' to gawk(1).
