If you are calling your C-program from the shell script, then perhaps all it (the C-program) has to do is print the email address (and hopefully nothing else):
And then in your Shell script:
and then the shell variable "email_address" contains just that.
I try to test the carriage return in a variable.
$ LENGTH=`expr $VARIABLE : ".*"` will return the length of the variable. But this doesn't work if $VARIABLE has zero length.
Any help will be well appreciated.
