Operating Systems AIX p570 seeing LTO drive but not 3582 library (smc0) Post 302464173 by BobSmith on Tuesday 19th of October 2010 05:59:33 PM

Update

I did find that control path was disabled. I enabled control path. I deleted my tape drive all the way through the fibre channel it was connected to.

Then rebooted tape library. Then ran cfgmgr. I can see the tape drive, but still cannot see the library (smc or anything else that says library) when I do an lsdev.

Reset configuration on the library and redid the whole config again, as well as deleting everything on the AIX side, too, and re-discovering. Problem still exists.

I have all the manuals and read through them. All I can see is that I need to install atape.driver and the and atldd driver.

If I get this working, I will certainly post the resolution, but at this point things do not look good.

Finally got this working. Changed library from sequential mode to random mode . Apparently, smc0 won't appear if a 3582 is set in sequential mode. After three reboots of the tape library, smc0 finally appeared.

request_scroll(3alleg4)                                           Allegro manual                                           request_scroll(3alleg4)

NAME
request_scroll - Queues a hardware scroll request with triple buffering. Allegro game programming library. SYNOPSIS
#include <allegro.h> int request_scroll(int x, int y); DESCRIPTION
This function is used for triple buffering. It requests a hardware scroll to the specified position, but returns immediately rather than waiting for a retrace. The scroll will then take place during the next vertical retrace, but you can carry on running other code in the meantime and use the poll_scroll() routine to detect when the flip has actually taken place. Triple buffering is only possible with certain drivers: you can look at the GFX_CAN_TRIPLE_BUFFER bit in the gfx_capabilities flag to see if it will work with the current driver. RETURN VALUE
This function returns zero on success, non-zero otherwise. SEE ALSO
