How to detect difference between files and print the differences

Dear all,

I have some problem here. I want to detect the differences between two text files and count the number of differences between them.

Such as file1.txt i have : I am new in perl.
and file2.txt i have : I ma enw in pearl.

So it should return me 3 as the number of differences.

So far I have

Code:
use File::Compare;
$count = 0;

open (F1, "file1.txt") || die "Could not open file $!";
while (<F1>) {
    push @array1, [ split ];
}
close (F1);

open (F2, "file2.txt") || die "Could not open file $!";
while (<F2>) {
    push @array2, [ split ];
close (F2);

foreach (@array1) {
    if (@array1 != @array2)
       {$count++;
        print "$count \n";}
}

Is there anything wrong? Please advise.
Thank you so much in advacned
