My aim is to generate a report using shell script. There are various formats fields coloumns etc.
I want to print in a single line (row) but in different coloumn as given below:

I have a sorted file like:
Apple 3
Apple 5
Apple 8
Banana 2
Banana 3
Grape 31
Orange 7
Orange 13
I'd like to search $1 and if $1 is not the same as $1 in the previous row print that row and print the number of times $1 was found.
so the output would look like:
Apple 8 3

I need to execute around 15 queries after which all data should come in Excel format.
Executing 15 queries is not a problem.
Problem is how to present/put data in excel.

man.conf - configuration data for man DESCRIPTION
This file is read by man(1) and contains (a) information on how to construct the search path for man, (b) full path names for various pro- grams like nroff, eqn, tbl etc. used by man, and (c) a list with uncompressors for files with a given extension.
