Nore sure what you mean by "file length", but how about ...

Code:
#!/bin/bash

for FILE in $( ls . )
do
  if [ -f $FILE ] && [ $( wc -c $FILE | awk '{print $1}' ) -lt 5 ]
  then
    echo "$FILE"
  fi
done

exit 0
#finis

Code:
ls -ps | grep -v '/' | awk '($1<5) {print $2}'
