I have 2 new disks I want to add to my StorEdge 3310 but am getting lost in the steps. We have another 3310 (JBOD) that I was able to plug the disks into and they instantly showed up. Did a few minor commands after (drvconfig, devfsadm etc..) and I was good to partition the slices...
On our 3310 (RAID) I plugged them in and its not seeing them:
What steps do I need to perform to allow the server to see the 2 new added disks. (SEAGATES)
I just installed sun storedge 3310 connected to a sunfire 280R with a total siz of 680GB and now am trying to create filesystems.
issue format command and created my partitions, the largest size of the partition is 170GB. but I try to create new filesystems by using newfs like
newfs... (3 Replies)
A sparc server has a new SCSI hard disk added and labeled by the engineer, but they need to be formatted identically to an existing disk (c4t0d0). You decide to script the process and run from the command line without interaction.
I know that the following command line must be achieve this.

Dear Sun gurus,
I have Sun Fire V240 server with its StorEdge 3300 disk-array. Following are its disks appeared in format command. I have prepared its partitions thru format and metainit & metattach (may be i have made wrong steps, causing the errors below because I have done thru some document... (1 Reply)
From what I have been finding on the net is that most all Sun RAID setups are software? Is it really that uncommon for Sun servers to have hardware RAID? (6 Replies)
Sorry if this seems trivial. i have been given a task at work to configure a sun processing server "enterprise 4500" so it can work with the a storage server "storedge A5200" and "storedge D1000"
the truth is i have never worked on a sun server before. i need a guideline (step by step) as to... (5 Replies)
Do you know how do I make my solaris 8 detect the storEDGE A5000?.
I have problem making it recognise, without that I cannot install VxVM.

Hello,
i have a a1000 connected to an e6500. There's a raid 10 (12 disks) on the a1000.
If i do a
dd if=/dev/zero of=/mnt/1 bs=1024k count=1000
and then look at iostat it tells me there's a kw/s of 25000.
But if i do a
dd of=/dev/zero if=/mnt/1 bs=1024k count=1000
then i see only a... (1 Reply)
Hi.
I need to move a 5 disk RAID5 array from a SE3310 box to a different SE3310 array. After installing the disks in the "new" StorEdge device, I "would like" ;) to be able have access to the data which is on the RAID.
Essentially, the quesion is, how can this be done?

We have hardware RAID configured on Sun-Blade-T6320 and one of the disk got failed. Hence we replaced the failed disk. But the hot swapped disk not recognized by RAID. Kindly help on fixing this issue.
We have 2 LDOM configured on this server and this server running on single disk.

fp(7d) Devices fp(7d)NAME
fp - Sun Fibre Channel port driver
DESCRIPTION
The fp driver is a Sun fibre channel nexus driver that enables fibre channel topology discovery, device discovery, fibre channel adapter
port management and other capabilities through well-defined fibre channel adapter driver interfaces.
The fp driver requires the presence of a fabric name server in fabric and public loop topologies to discover fibre channel devices. In pri-
vate loop topologies, the driver discovers devices by performing PLOGI to all valid AL_PAs, provided that devices do not participate in
LIRP and LILP stages of loop initialization.
CONFIGURATION
The fp driver is configured by defining properties in the fp.conf file. The fp driver supports the following properties:
mpxio-disable
Solaris I/O multipathing is enabled or disabled on fibre channel devices with the mpxio-disable property. Specifying mpxio-disable="no"
activates I/O multipathing, while mpxio-disable="yes" disables the feature.
Solaris I/O multipathing may be enabled or disabled on a per port basis. Per port settings override the global setting for the specified
ports. The following example shows how to disable multipathing on port 0 whose parent is /pci@8,600000/SUNW,qlc@4:
name="fp" parent="/pci@8,600000/SUNW,qlc@4" port=0
mpxio-disable="yes";
manual_configuration_only
Automatic configuration of SCSI devices in the fabric is enabled by default and thus allows all devices discovered in the SAN zone to be
enumerated in the kernel's device tree automatically. The manual_configuration_only property may be configured to disable the default
behavior and force the manual configuration of the devices in the SAN. Specifying manual_configuration_only=1 disables the automatic con-
figuration of devices.
