First of all you will need to know what applications you are ggoing to run in your Data Centre. Only after you know that can you deicide on the hardware platform that suits you best.

If you are talking about building a whole new Data Centre you are looking at several millions of dollars (Pounds or Euros) of investment and to base that around advice on this or any other forum is somewhat misguided at best.

IBm has manay presales people and also those who can help you set up a Data Centre - but you first ABSOLUTELY need to understand what it is you are going to run in that Data Centre.

And thats without worrying about Disaster Recovery, Redundancy of Data, Backups and so on.

One detail - although you can download VIO 2.1 the server needs to be licensed for advanced virtualisation for the code to work - again IBM or their Business Parntner can help you out.
