Thank you, I have compiled it and (after some editing the source) I have a working bsd variant on Ubuntu Linux.
Code:
$ ./ar --version
BSD ar 1.0.2 - libarchive 2.6.2

This manual page documents briefly the claws-mail-archiver-plugin This manual page was written for the Debian distribution because the original program does not have a manual page. claws-mail-archiver-plugin is a plugin (loadable module) for the Claws Mail mailer.
