sed -e 's/(\d+)\/(\d+)\/(\d+)/$3$2$1/g' | echo $PARAM
It has been assumed here that the date value is retrieved in the parameter PARAM

in ksh, how do i format date so it includes hour and minute ?? i am trying the following command :
date +%Om/%Od/%Oy%OH:%M
but it displays the hour and minute concatenated with the day/month/year e.g 12/10/0814:08

Procedural style

Resets the current time of the DateTime object to a different time.
PARAMETERS
o $object
-Procedural style only: A DateTime object returned by date_create(3). The function modifies this object.
o $hour
- Hour of the time.
o $minute
- Minute of the time.
o $second
- Second of the time.
RETURN VALUES
Returns the DateTime object for method chaining or FALSE on failure.
