Synergy on AIX

I am trying to install Synergy (1.3.1) on AIX 5.3 and it gets to checking pthreads and fails:

checking for dot... NO

checking if g++ defines correct C++ . yes
checking for the pthreads library -lpthreads... no
checking whether pthreads work without any flags... no
checking whether pthreads work with -Kthread... no
checking whether pthreads work with -kthread... no
checking for the pthreads library -llthread... no
checking whether pthreads work with -pthread... no
checking whether pthreads work with -pthreads... no
checking whether pthreads work with -mthreads... no
checking for the pthreads library -lpthread... no
checking whether pthreads work with --thread-safe... no
checking whether pthreads work with -mt... no

configure: error: You must have pthreads to compile synergy

As far as I can tell, pthreads are installed:
[gemdba@rv-wk-btuc-02:bits64]/home/gemdba/synergy-1.3.1>lslpp -l | grep threads
bos.rte.libpthreads 5.3.0.30 COMMITTED pthreads Library


Not sure what else I can do. I've also attached the config.log.

The pthread_self() function returns the ID of the calling thread. This is the same value that is returned in *thread in the pthread_cre- ate(3) call that created this thread. RETURN VALUE

POSIX.1 allows an implementation wide freedom in choosing the type used to represent a thread ID; for example, representation using either an arithmetic type or a structure is permitted. Therefore, variables of type pthread_t can't portably be compared using the C equality operator (==); use pthread_equal(3) instead. Thread identifiers should be considered opaque: any attempt to use a thread ID other than in pthreads calls is nonportable and can lead to unspecified results. Thread IDs are guaranteed to be unique only within a process. A thread ID may be reused after a terminated thread has been joined, or a detached thread has terminated.
