Some how the open(file,flag, acc) returns 0 and write to the screen, instead of the file ???
I am out of idea what to do to resolve the problem!

I need to use the open(file, for.., access) function to write a file.

Never have the situation like that: it is return 0 - zero.
As a result all write(..) going to the screen!

What the problem it could be?

I do not even know what to show in code.
Opened this way:

      {  .../*error*/  ;}

The 'rpt_fl' is fine

       printf ("\n -- The report file is: >%s< -- \n",rpt_fl);
....

prints out:
Code:
 -- The report file is: >DATA/elm0653M.rpt.0008< --

and

> ll DATA/elm0653M.rpt.0008
-rw-rw-rw-   1 dca0701  dstnse         0 Mar  8 13:06 DATA/elm0653M.rpt.0008

I undestand that the system by default should have the '0' descriptor associated with the standart output and have it unavailable (or already assighned) on any, even first a file descriptor request (by the open(..),) but it is not happening in my case.
I am stucked with how get it resolve.

What could be the reason for such behavior?
What would you advise to do to realise the problem or correct it?

I am appreciate any help and every try!

Before I delete any file in Unix, How can I check no open file handle is pointing to that file?

I know how to check if any file has a unix process using a file by looking at 'lsof <fullpath/filename>' command. I think using lsof is very expensive. NAME

       Locale::Codes::LangVar - standard codes for language variation identification

SYNOPSIS

	  use Locale::Codes::LangVar;

	  $lvar = code2langvar('acm');		       # $lvar gets 'Mesopotamian Arabic'
	  $code = langvar2code('Mesopotamian Arabic'); # $code gets 'acm'

	  @codes   = all_langvar_codes();
	  @names   = all_langvar_names();

DESCRIPTION

       The "Locale::Codes::LangVar" module provides access to standard codes used for identifying language variations, such as those as defined in
       the IANA language registry.

       Most of the routines take an optional additional argument which specifies the code set to use. If not specified, the default IANA language
       registry codes will be used.

SUPPORTED CODE SETS

       There are several different code sets you can use for identifying language variations. A code set may be specified using either a name, or
       a constant that is automatically exported by this module.

       For example, the two are equivalent:

	  $lvar = code2langvar('en','alpha-2');
	  $lvar = code2langvar('en',LOCALE_CODE_ALPHA_2);

       The codesets currently supported are:

       alpha
	   This is the set of alphanumeric codes from the IANA language registry, such as 'arevela' for Eastern Armenian.

	   This code set is identified with the symbol "LOCALE_LANGVAR_ALPHA".

	   This is the default code set.
