Your post is kind of unclear to me on who has mounted what. Please give some details about the the OS of both client and server, configuration in exports file, the results of "showmount -a host", the error messages, etc common troubleshooting hints. Right now I can only guess what OSes are using the client and the server.
pls post the "/etc/exports" and i want to know how do u share this nfs file system ?

When i see in the /var/adm/messages, i saw the following error

Hello,
I have a centos as nfs server, its name is centos_A.
After I finish the setup of the nfs server, the other linux can access this nfs server immediately via /net/centos_A/*
But,
My solaris 9 can not access /net/centos_A/* immediately. I have to leave /net/centos_A, and wait for about... (1 Reply)

My query is on NFS,
I have shared the /test folder on Server A, whose owner is user "A" uid=101, gid=202
and mounted on Server B as /test1, whose owner is "A" uid=204, gid=204,

We have 2 servers in cluster. Node1 has an ext3 mount for backups and the other connects using NFS to this node1.
I believe the reason it is configured in this manner is to not duplicate backups since this is a Database server. Not sure this was the reason though. Right now if node1 goes down all... (5 Replies)

NAME
showmount - show remote mounts
SYNOPSIS
/usr/sbin/showmount [-ade] [hostname]
DESCRIPTION
showmount lists the clients that have remotely mounted a filesystem from host. This information is maintained by the mountd(1M) server on
host, and is saved across crashes in the file /etc/rmtab. The default value for host is the value returned by hostname(1).
The showmount command does not display the names of NFS Version 4 clients.
OPTIONS
-a Print all remote mounts in the format:
hostname : directory
where hostname is the name of the client, and directory is the root of the file system that has been mounted.
-d List directories that have been remotely mounted by clients.
-e Print the list of shared file systems.
