I 've 2 different T5220 and both are showing different prompts when i ssh to the console.
1. Shows sc> ALOM
2. Shows -> ILOM
as far as i know the T5220 comes with ILOM , so why i 'm seeing 2 different type of console for same tyep of hardware ?

I bought a new Netra X4450 and this is my first time experience with intel based Sun server. I powered on the machine and went through the Sun wizard to complete OS configuration. One of my X4600 server had a power loss and rebooted and now its giving me a strange problem servers internal disk controller naming has changed by itself ... the after failsafe boot md.conf file shows following c3txdx but shows internal disk at c4txdx ... what could be the reason for this and... Hi,
I am just confused with iLOM. Is iLOM is applicable for SPARC as well as X86 servers?? which are having CMM. Hope ALOM will be applicable for rest of the servers like v240 kind of series.
Can any one pls clarify this??

Booting and checking BIOS there is no option to enable-disable hyperthreading.
I have 8 Dual-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 8220 and I see 16 cores.
Enable hyperthreading I should have 32 cores.
I have red hat 5.4 installed.

I am having an Sun fire X4600 M2 server where one of the interfaces is down.
I had requested for the replacement but had a bit problem in identifying the port.

install-solaris - install the Solaris operating system SYNOPSIS
install-solaris install-solaris invokes the Solaris Install program. Depending on graphical capability and available memory at the time of invocation, install-solaris invokes either a text-based installer or a graphical installer. The following minimum requirements for physical memory dictate which features are available during installation: For SPARC machines: 128 MB Minimum physical memory for all installation types 128 MB Minimum physical memory required for windowing system 384 MB Minimum physical memory required for graphical-based installation For x86 machines: 256 MB Minimum physical memory for all installation types 256 MB Minimum physical memory required for windowing system 512 MB Minimum physical memory required for graphical-based installation In some cases, even if the minimum physical memory is present, available virtual memory after system startup can limit the number of fea- tures available. install-solaris exists only on the Solaris installation media (CD or DVD) and should be invoked only from there.
