Ok, I give the wrong sample to make your confused. Now I explain it again.

The request from tene is : need find out both XX and ZZ in one line.

So, if run your command:

Code:
grep -e "XX" -e "ZZ" urfile
XX=123|YY=222|ZZ=566
XX=123|YY=222|Zx=566

you will see the second line is incorrect. You command is same as

Code:
grep -E "XX|ZZ" urfile

not really, I also think to use grep by XX.*ZZ at first, but if ZZ is before XX, you will not get the correct answer.

Guys, i used egrep "pattern1|pattern2". But the whole word is searched. But i want the output if only the exact word is matched. i.e the output is got evenif a part of the pattern is matched. NAME

       grub-render-label - generate a .disk_label for Apple Macs.

SYNOPSIS

       grub-render-label [OPTION...] [OPTIONS]

DESCRIPTION

       Render Apple .disk_label.

       -b, --bgcolor=COLOR
              use COLOR for background

       -c, --color=COLOR
              use COLOR for text

       -f, --font=FILE
              use FILE as font (PF2).

       -i, --input=FILE
              read text from FILE.

       -o, --output=FILE
              set output filename. Default is STDOUT

       -t, --text=STRING
              set the label to render

       -v, --verbose
              print verbose messages.

       -?, --help
              give this help list

       --usage
              give a short usage message

       -V, --version
              print program version

       Mandatory or optional arguments to long options are also mandatory or optional for any corresponding short options.
