Identify File with ControlM Characters
Dear Members,
I have a file which contains ControlM characters in it.
I need a command by the means of which i should be able to identify if a file has controlM characters.
How can this be achieved.

Hi Friends,
I need to have a command in Unix which output all teh records havingg junk characters in a file....
I know a command cat -tv <Filename> which opens the file and we can check for any junk character in it.
But my requirement is to fetch ONLY THOSE records having junk characters.... (6 Replies)

I have a directory with hundreds of files that can not have data pass column 80. I do not know of way to combine "grep" and "cut" command.
I tried:
cat * | cut -c 81-120 |pg
but it only shows me the line, not the file name.

Is there a way to identify the lines in a file having extended ascii characters and display the same?
For instance I have a file abc.txt having below data
aaa|bbb|111|This is first line
aaa|bbb|222|This is secõnd line

I want to filter out the special character whose ascii value doesn't fall within the range "" .
Example:� or Ć. So in that case is there any defined range which will filter out this characters.

I am on linux and I am supposed to receive 3 files. If any of the files are not received I need to identify the missing file and throw it out in a variable.

NAME
labelit_hsfs - provide and print labels for hsfs file systems
SYNOPSIS
/usr/sbin/labelit -F hsfs [generic_options]
[-o specific_options] special
DESCRIPTION
labelit can be used to provide labels for unmounted CD-ROM images (CD-ROMs may not be labeled, as they are read-only media).
generic_options are options supported by the generic labelit command.
If no specific_options are specified, labelit prints the current value of all label fields.
The special name should be the physical disk section (for example, /dev/dsk/c0d0s6).
OPTIONS
-o Use one or more of the following name=value pairs separated by commas (with no intervening spaces) to specify values for specific
label fields. According to the ISO 9660 specification, only certain sets of characters may be used to fill in these labels. Thus,
``d-characters'' below refers to the characters `A' through `Z', the digits `0' through `9', and the `_' (underscore) character.
``a-characters'' below refers to `A' through `Z', `0' through `9', space, and the following characters: !"%&'()*+,-./:;<=>?_.
absfile= Abstract file identifier, d-characters, 37 characters maximum.
applid= Application identifier, d-characters, 128 characters maximum.
bibfile= Bibliographic file identifier, d-characters, 37 characters maximum.
copyfile= Copyright file identifier, d-characters, 128 maximum.
prepid= Data preparer identifier, d-characters, 128 maximum.
pubid= Publisher identifier, d-characters, 128 maximum.
sysid= System identifier, a-characters, 32 maximum.
volid= Volume identifier, d-characters, 32 maximum.
