You can still use gnome even if KDE is installed. Did you just want to change your default? Is there a reason, besides freeing up space, that you wanted to remove KDE?

gnome-control-center [-h] [gnome-std-options] DESCRIPTION
gnome-control-center enables the user to configure their GNOME desktop. Most configuration choices can also be accessed directly from the GNOME Panel Preferences menu.
