ksh command line editing text being overwritten
hi. i'm using ksh with set -o vi. if i am far down in a directory and try to edit the command line (esc-k to retrieve previous command) the cursor is being positioned over to the left on top of the directory text making the text very difficult to read or work with. seems to be problem with long command strings as well (ex: cp with long directory names). any suggestions? thanks!

Dear Guru's
I'm using Putty and want to edit a file. I know we generally use vi editor to do it. As I'm not good in using vi editor, I want to convert the vi into something like text pad. Is there any option in Putty to do the same ? Thanks for your response.

ksh
Print the accumulated user and system times for the shell and for processes run from the shell.
On this man page, ksh(1) commands that are preceded by one or two * (asterisks) are treated specially in the following ways:
1. Variable assignment lists preceding the command remain in effect when the command completes.
2. I/O redirections are processed after variable assignments.
3. Errors cause a script that contains them to abort.
4. Words, following a command preceded by ** that are in the format of a variable assignment, are expanded with the same rules as a vari-
able assignment. This means that tilde substitution is performed after the = sign and word splitting and file name generation are not
performed.
