Top Forums UNIX for Dummies Questions & Answers how to kill all the netscape process of a particular user? Post 302340918 by TonyFullerMalv on Tuesday 4th of August 2009 04:40:58 PM

Depends on the flavour of Unix, for Solaris I would consider doing a ptree of the user's Netscape processes to see if there are any child processes that also need tidying up, e.g.:
Code:
# ps -ef | grep netscape | grep user
for each pid listed then do:
# ptree pid

For Linux replace ptree with pstree.

To simply kill off the user's process called netscape you would do:
Code:
# pkill -u user netscape

Don't forget the user may need the lock file removed from their ~/.netscape folder before they can run Netscape again.
