how to use the arrow keys in shell scripting. is there any special synatax / command for this.
i just want to use the arrow keys for navigation.

The input 1st column has specific keys like 1 with value a,b and c. 2 with b,b,d and 3 with a,a a.
when ever c appears as one of the values the result will be key ........ c (You can see in the out put as 1 w...... 6.... c) and same follows for d.

Question:
I want get the unique value of column 2 in a sorted way(on column 2) and the sum of the 3rd column of the corresponding rows. e.g the above file should return the... (6 Replies)
key pair is 1st and 6th column ex:a20 : p10 or a20 : p11
For every key pair if the vlaue(4th column) is the same then delete all the lines who has keypair and the value
ex: a20 : p10 has value 1 only then delete those but a20 : p11 has different values 1,2 and 3 and keep those.

DESCRIPTION
This subclass of PDL allows one to manipulate PDLs of 'byte' type as if they were made of fixed length strings, not just numbers.
This type of behavior is useful when you want to work with charactar grids. The indexing is done on a string level and not a character
level for the 'setstr' and 'atstr' commands.
This module is in particular useful for writing NetCDF files that include character data using the PDL::NetCDF module.

Function to create a byte PDL from a string, list of strings, list of list of strings, etc.

setstr
Function to set one string value in a character PDL. The input position is the position of the string, not a character in the string. The
first dimension is assumed to be the length of the string.
The input string will be null-padded if the string is shorter than the first dimension of the PDL. It will be truncated if it is longer.
$char = PDL::Char->new( [['abc', 'def', 'ghi'], ['jkl', 'mno', 'pqr']] );
$char->setstr(0,1, 'foobar');
print $char; # 'string' bound to "", perl stringify function
