suppose in a directory there are over 20 files.
I need to move the first 10 files(first in first out basis, which ever files comes first) into a separate directory.
i have an idea but not sure how far this is correct, can anyone guide me on this?

I need to be able to identify files with file timestamps greater than a given timestamp.
I am using the following solution, although it appears to compare files at the "seconds" granularity and I need it at the milliseconds. When I tested my solution, it missed files that had timestamps... (3 Replies)

Newbie to shell scripting. Currently i have used the below to sort data based on filenames and datestamp
$ printf '%s\n' *.dat* | sort -t. -k3,4
filename_1.dat.20120430.Z
filename_2.dat.20120430.Z
filename_3.dat.20120430.Z
filename_1.dat.20120501.Z

I want to copy all the data for 6 days in one file and keep only the data for today in that log file and mail that log file containing today's data.

NAME
httppower - communicate with HTTP based power distribution units
SYNOPSIS
httppower [--url URL]
DESCRIPTION
httppower is a helper program for powerman which enables it to communicate with HTTP based power distribution units. It is run interac-
tively by the powerman daemon.
OPTIONS
-u, --url URL
Set the base URL.
INTERACTIVE COMMANDS
The following commands are accepted at the httppower> prompt:
auth user:pass
Authenticate to the base URL with specified user and password, using ``basic'' HTTP authentication which sends the user and password
over the network in plain text.
seturl URL
Set the base URL. Overrides the command line option.
get [URL-suffix]
Send an HTTP GET to the base URL with the optional URL-suffix appended.
post [URL-suffix] key=val[&key=val]...
Send an HTTP POST to the base URL with the optional URL-suffix appended, and key-value pairs as argument.
