Thanks for your reply but i think you misunderstood my question
I need to read values from my file, so i'm using: while read line do
Then the value stored in "line" must be incremented in one
and now i use sed -n${line}p file> file1

Hello, this is a VI question more than anything...
I'm using: SunOS 5.10 Generic_150400-04 sun4v sparc SUNW,T5240
I'm trying to find a problematic line(s) in a script.
The only solution I can think of is to tag each repetative line, and increment it.
This is an oracle insert script.

line - read one line
SYNOPSIS
line
DESCRIPTION
The line utility copies one line (up to and including a new-line) from the standard input and writes it on the standard output. It returns
an exit status of 1 on EOF and always prints at least a new-line. It is often used within shell files to read from the user's terminal.
EXIT STATUS
Exit status is:
0 Successful completion
>0 End-of-file on input.
