To run Unix on CD in WinVista

Hello.

I'm using Windows Vista.
I would like to know more about UNIX and I want to be able work from home.
Is there any option to run Unix on my system, from the CD drive (I mean, without installing)?

I posted a message on a board asking if unix and linux could run on one pc. I was told unix cannot run on a pc.
