That is correct. I want to keep only the last two versions of each file and delete all others. My sample output shows the results I would get if the script works correctly. That part would not be hard. If I could get all the other files in a text file, then I could run a "for loop" that would delete all the files from the directory that exist in the text. That I can do.

for i in `cat removefiles.txt`
do
rm temp/$i
done

Preserving variable in script run with sudo

In a nutshell, I want $USER to reflect my user ID in a script run with sudo. I'm working with OSX in case that makes a difference. If I 'sudo echo $USER', I get my user ID. NAME

       asadmin-delete-domain, delete-domain - deletes the givendomain

SYNOPSIS

       delete-domain [--terse=false] [--echo=false] [--domaindir install_dir/domains] domain_name

       delete-domain  deletes  the  specified  domain.	The domain must already exist and must be stopped. This command is supported in local mode
       only.

OPTIONS

       --domaindir	       directory where the domain is to be deleted. If specified, path must be accessible in the filesystem. If not speci-
			       fied, the domain in the default install_dir/domains directory is deleted.

       --terse		       indicates that any output data must be very concise, typically avoiding human-friendly sentences and favoring well-
			       formatted data for consumption by a script. Default is false.

       --echo		       setting to true will echo the command line statement on the standard output. Default is false.

OPERANDS

       domain_name	       name of the domain. Must be a unique name.

       Example 1: Using delete-domain

       asadmin> delete-domain sampleDomain
       deleted domain sampleDomain successfully

       Where: the sampleDomain domain is deleted.

       0		       command executed successfully
