phpLogCon 2.5.16 (Beta branch)

Image phpLogCon is a Web front-end for syslog and other network event data. It provides easy browsing, searching, basic analysis, and some graphics. Data is taken from databases or plain syslog text files, so phpLogCon does not require changes to an existing logging infrastructure. Depending on the log data present, it can process syslog messages, Windows event log entries, and some more exotic things. Its troubleshooting support enables users to quickly find solutions to problems seen in the log data. License: GNU General Public License v3 Changes:
This release fixes a problem when adding a MySQL logstream source. Minor issues handling form input that happened when magic_quotes_gpc was enabled have been fixed. A bug in the convert.php script that inserted the wrong database version number has been fixed. Support has been added to filter for dynamic fields within the logstream database sources. Support has been added to suppress unparseable messages when using msgparsers. There is a new setting for MySQL logstream sources to control the amount of data per query. Image

NAME
syslog-ng, syslogd DESCRIPTION
There are different syslog daemon implementations supported as the system's syslog service, currently syslogd, syslog-ng and rsyslogd The first installed daemon activates itself for the syslog service. Starting with openSUSE-11.2, it is rsyslogd, before it was syslog-ng. But this depends on the software selection during the installation. The name of the daemon used as syslog service is specified in the SYSLOG_DAEMON variable in /etc/sysconfig/syslog. The yast2 sysconfig module provides a comfortable way to switch to another installed daemon and restart the service. The /etc/init.d/syslog init script is able to handle all supported daemons. BUGS
