Gnome is already there in Solaris 10, customized as JDS.
The JDK is bundled with both Solaris 9 and 10.
You can install gnome on Solaris 9 from Sun or various freeware sources:

SYNOPSIS
gnome-about [gnome-std-options]
DESCRIPTION
The GNOME introductory dialog displays a list of the GNOME contributors, and provides links to some useful GNOME websites.
OPTIONS
The following options are supported:
gnome-std-optionStandard options available for use with most GNOME applications. See gnome-std-options(5).
EXAMPLES
Example 1: Displaying the GNOME introductory information

The following exit values are returned:
0 Application exited successfully
