Hp-ux login banner
Its working!!!!!!!
It displays the message on the /etc/motd file first, and then the message on the banner in user's .profile
Thanx alot man!!!!! Unix is just fun.

Hi,
I have added in banner in both /etc/banner and /etc/issue.net one by one in Linux but the banner is not displaying while user type username and enter
I have restarted the ssh service also

I have been trying to create a banner/login message (something for displaying the usage policy etc) to appear while I login using telnet/FTP to any Solaris (pref. Solaris9) machine. I'm having problem with the CDE pre login banner.
I configured the c/usr/dt/config/C/Xresources file to add my warning message:
Dtlogin*greeting.labelString: My Banner
I then modified the Dtlogin*greeting*fontList to display the message in smaller text. This did not work.

why I didn't set /etc/inetd.conf
telnet stream tcp nowait root /usr/lbin/telnetd \
telnetd -b /etc/issue
only
telnet stream tcp nowait root /usr/lbin/telnetd
in /etc/ineted.conf
but when I telnet my HPUX machine
it shows those message

SYNOPSIS
lpbanner [ -llength ] [ -wwidth ] [ -Pprinter ] [ -Lbannername ] [ -nloginname ] [ -hhost ] [ -Jjobtitle ] [ -Cclass ] [ -?option args ] [
all ]
DESCRIPTION
The lpbanner program is used to print a simple banner on a fixed size font printer, the pclbanner program generates a PCL banner and the
psbanner program generates a PostScript banner. All information to be printed is passed using command line arguements. In order to be
compatible with vintage line printer spoolers, reads a line form standard input, but ignores the information.
OPTIONS
-w width
Page width in characters (default 132).
-l length
Page length in lines (default 60).
-P printer
printer queue for banner information.
-L bannername
Name used on banner as main name.
-n loginname
Name used on banner as login name.
-h host
Name used on banner as host name.
-J jobtitle
String used on banner as main title.
-C class
String used on banner as class.
-? value
All other options and arguments provided by LPRng are ignored.
EXIT STATUS
The following exit values are returned:
zero (0) Successful completion.
non-zero (!=0) An error occurred.
