I would like to automatically logout from the system inactive users depending on their functions.
For example there are users that I would like to logout after 15 minutes of inactivity, but there are others that I would like to logout after 30 minutes of inactivity.

I'm trying to execute a single shell command that will give me a sorted list of all the users currently logged into the system, displaying the users name as it appears in /etc/passwd.
I've tried
awk -F: '{print $1}' /etc/passwd | xargs finger -s | cut -c11-28 | uniq

Is this sort of thing possible using the built in components of a Unix system?

Can I get a script to list out all the users, who has not logged on since last 90 days. Last command in not working due due to /var/adm/wtmpx is more than 2 GB.

I'm trying to do a list of user that never connected to a couple of servers. I want to do a diff between the servers lists, and print out only the users that never has logged on each server. Here my first step :

Hi,
How to find the users who did not login into a UNIX box (thru ssh/ftp or any other way) for last 90 days?
I think of using "finger" or "last" command to findout each user's last login and then find number of days between today and that day. Is there any other better way or anyone prepared... (1 Reply)

NAME
mkpwdict - maintain password-strength checking database
SYNOPSIS
/usr/sbin/mkpwdict [-s dict1,... ,dictN] [-d destination-path]
DESCRIPTION
The mkpwdict command adds words to the dictionary-lookup database used by pam_authtok_check(5) and passwd(1).
Files containing words to be added to the database can be specified on the command-line using the -s flag. These source files should have a
single word per line, much like /usr/share/lib/dict/words.
If -s is omitted, mkpwdict will use the value of DICTIONLIST specified in /etc/default/passwd (see passwd(1)).
The database is created in the directory specified by the -d option. If this option is omitted, mkpwdict uses the value of DICTIONDBDIR
specified in /etc/default/passwd (see passwd(1)). The default location is /var/passwd.
OPTIONS
The following options are supported:
-s
Specifies a comma-separated list of files containing words to be added to the dictionary-lookup database.
-d
Specifies the target location of the dictionary-database.
