I didn't read anything about SCSI channels/ports in that post. It depends on the raid controller and OS, I think. Usually the raid controller software or raid software from the OS just ask which is disk 1 and which is disk 2 to setup let's say a Raid 1.

On AIX it doesn't matter if you got both mirrored disks connected on one channel or on 2 channels or on 2 channels where each one is on a different controller, while the last option might be the safest. So if one of your controller dies, you still have the other controller with the other mirror disk.
