It waits for you to type in the mail body, and when you press ctrl-C to break out, it produces the dead.letter because you didn't finish the message.
mailx </dev/null if you don't want the message to have a body.
"command not found" typically means that the package which contains this command was not installed. Talk to the admin, or if the admin is you, talk to yourself.

Can somebody explain it to me that why wc gives more chars suppose
Ab.txt have two lines
qwer
qasd
then wc -c ab.txt will give 10.why not 8.okay may be it is taking count one for each line just in case but why echo "qwer"|wc -C gives 5.

praliases [-C configfile] [-f aliasfile] [key]
DESCRIPTION
The praliases utility displays system mail aliases. When no key is given, praliases displays the current system aliases, one per line, in
no particular order. The form is key:value. If a key is given, only that key is looked up and the appropriate key:value is displayed if

OPTIONS
The following options are supported:
-C configfile Specifies a sendmail configuration file.
