video display

i needed to build a quick and dirty solaris 10 box for some dev work. basically a web server. anyway, i grab some deal off tigerdirect and have a x86 install. however, i'm running into problems with the video display. currently have a SAPPHIRE 100122L Radeon X700 256MB 64-bit DDR PCI Express x16 Video Card. looked on the hcl and found this card is supposed to work for 08/07 release. right off the bat i can't get a normal video install, i gotta go to console text. however, it installs with no issues. when i go to bring up the machine it craps out and goes black on me when the graphical login prompt comes up (so run level 3). any ideas on this one?
