Bash script pass sentence in block

Hi People,
I need some Help to write a unix script that asks for a sentence to be typed out then with the sentence. Counts the number of spaces within the sentence and then echo's out "The Number Of Spaces In The Sentence is 4" as a example

This is my bash script.i am calling validation.sql and passing a value to it using ${flds}.
i want the cnt variable in plsql script to be passed to unix.

I have written a script which works fine, to remove patterns contained in EXCLUDE.DAT from input.txt
awk 'BEGIN {n=0;while (getline < "EXCLUDE.DAT" > 0){ex=$0;n++}} {for(var in ex){print var "-" ex $0 ;i++}}' input.txt

My question is about curl command. (ubuntu14.04)
In terminal, I am able to download my mainfile with:
curl -u user1:pass1 http://11.22.33.44/*******
When I convert it into bash script like this:

style - analyze surface characteristics of a document SYNOPSIS
style [ -ml ] [ -mm ] [ -a ] [ -e ] [ -l num ] [ -r num ] [ -p ] [ -P ] file ... DESCRIPTION
Style analyzes the surface characteristics of the writing style of a document. It reports on readability, sentence length and structure, word length and usage, verb type, and sentence openers. Because style runs deroff before looking at the text, formatting header files should be included as part of the input. The default macro package -ms may be overridden with the flag -mm. The flag -ml, which causes deroff to skip lists, should be used if the document contains many lists of non-sentences. The other options are used to locate sentences with certain characteristics. -a print all sentences with their length and readability index. -e print all sentences that begin with an expletive. -p print all sentences that contain a passive verb. -lnum print all sentences longer than num. -rnum print all sentences whose readability index is greater than num. -P print parts of speech of the words in the document.
