I don't know what is the problem but you could try tar'ring the files including permissions and then uncompressing them with option "-p" if I remember it.
If this cannot be used and you want to make it on your own, and this is going ot be made trough some script, then I cannot see any other way than just displaying "ls" in some formatted way and then iterating trough the items with chown.
Note that this can be dangerous (especially because you are running this as root)

rsh to change multiple ip in multiple servers?

good day. i jsut wanted to know what is the best script or the best way changing a lot of Ip's in all servers. Do you have any idea? im using awk to change IP,what if, you have lots of servers. You need to change it one by one? It will take time to change it manually. (2 Replies)

NAME

       lfc-chgrp - change group ownership of a LFC directory/file in the name server

SYNOPSIS

       lfc-chgrp [-h] [-R] group path...

DESCRIPTION

       lfc-chgrp sets the group ownership of a LFC directory/file in the name server to the value of group.

       To  change  the group ID, the effective user ID of the process must match the owner ID of the file and the new group must be in the list of
       groups the caller belong to or the caller must have ADMIN privilege in the Cupv database.

       group  is either a valid group name or a valid numeric ID.

       path   specifies the LFC pathname.  If path does not start with /, it is prefixed by the content of the LFC_HOME environment variable.

OPTIONS

       The following options are supported:

       -h     If path is a symbolic link, changes the ownership of the link itself.

       -R     Recursive mode.

EXIT STATUS

       This program returns 0 if the operation was successful or >0 if the operation failed.
