thanks for ur reply. i m able to grep using -v option.......but not the way i want it.plz help
but have a look at my script

here in this script i m checking into the files and checking whether todays entry is made or not....if not then it will put the other dates that is previous date into the plogs.txt
but having some problem,i think in for loop

I'm working on unix with grep (GNU grep) 2.5.1. I'm going through some of the newer regex syntax using Regular Expression Reference - Advanced Syntax a guide.
ls -aLl /bin | grep "\(x\)"
Which works, just highlights 'x' where ever, when ever.
