While the script is running on the remote system, get the local hostname with "hostname", set variable like :
hostname_to_append = `hostname`
cp /tmp/file /tmp/file-$hostname_to_append
or replace cp with mv.
But you didn't specify OS and the script's language.

Hi All,
I am looking for a Unix shell script for file naming such that the file names itself as KARAN0001.
The 4 digit sequence number must start at 0001 and end at 9999.
After 9999 is reached, the number must reset to 0001.
Can anyone please help me with that.
Thanks & Regards

NAME
ssh-argv0 -- replaces the old ssh command-name as hostname handling
SYNOPSIS
hostname | user@hostname [-l login_name] [command]
hostname | user@hostname [-afgknqstvxACNTX1246] [-b bind_address] [-c cipher_spec] [-e escape_char] [-i identity_file] [-l login_name]
[-m mac_spec] [-o option] [-p port] [-F configfile] [-L port:host:hostport] [-R port:host:hostport] [-D port] [command]
DESCRIPTION
ssh-argv0 replaces the old ssh command-name as hostname handling. If you link to this script with a hostname then executing the link is
equivalent to having executed ssh with that hostname as an argument. All other arguments are passed to ssh and will be processed normally.
