Hi All, I'm struggling with a problem.
Data file example:

Green|12 feet|grape|cat
Blue|32 inches|banana|dog

and want to convert it into a file with this format:
A A = 1

I have the following file I wanted to convert mutiple spaces to tab:
I tried cat filename | tr ' ' '\t' or sed 's/ */ /' FILE
but it looses the format
