not sure what exactly are you looking for..if i understood correctly..u may want to do something like this-
for file in adc_earnedpoints*.txt
do
datestr=`echo $file | cut -d. -f2`
new=`echo $file | cut -d. -f1,3`
mv $file $new
#call informatica session with the datestr
done

Seeks to the specified field offset. If the next call to mssql_fetch_field(3) won't include a field offset, this field would be returned.
PARAMETERS

- The result resource that is being evaluated. This result comes from a call to mssql_query(3).
