I agree with you... when it is only message queue and message queue details we can manage with file...
here in this scenario as i have given the structures of mutex and condition variables too.... and i donno exactly what details of pthread_mutex_t should be stored in file while we are locking and unlocking the mutex, the same applies for condition variable...
could you pls.. clarify this to me..

According to my understanding..
When message queues are used, when a process post a message in the queue and if another process reads it from the queue then the queue will be empty unlike shared memory where n number of processess can access the shared memory and still the contents remain... (2 Replies)

As I understand it, Message Queues still incur system call overhead, just like socket calls.

Address of the mutex (passed by reference) to be unlocked.
DESCRIPTION
This routine unlocks the specified mutex mutex.
For more information about actions taken when threads are present, refer to the pthread_mutex_unlock description.

If an error condition occurs, this routine returns an integer value indicating the type of error. Possible return values are as follows:
