validate the last char of a vairbale
Okay...brain freeze.
How can I check if the last char of a variable is the letter r?
var1=xxxxxxr
if [ $var1 = ???? somthing here ?????r ]
Still frozen......

i am trying to validate 2 variables and then subtract, the following code works well in AiX but when i try in Solaris it doesnt work.
((TIME1>TIME2)) && ((TIME2=TIME2+864))
((DIF=TIME2-TIME1))
echo difference = $DIF Seconds

Compiling xpp (The X Printing Panel) on SL6 (RHEL6 essentially):
