jimmy, you need to modify your .profile file as I indicated. Then you need to logon. Then you need to post the output from those commands. No, those lines will not solve anything. But if you would post the output they produce when you logon, we can probably figure out what is happening.

set background/foreground color in .profile

I am using a telnet session (VT100) and need to modify my .profile so that it will set the color of the telnet session. I am not using Xterm (ie: can't use .Xdefaults).        colormgr [ --verbose ]

       This manual page documents briefly the colormgr command.

       colormgr allows an administrator to view and change color profile to device mappings.

OPTIONS

       This  program follows the usual GNU command line syntax, with long options starting with two dashes (`-'). A summary of options is included
